Sam Welsh has joined Anthony Harper as a special counsel in its Ōtautahi/Christchurch litigation team, strengthening the firm's dispute resolution offering in Canterbury.

Sam has extensive experience advising clients on a broad range of commercial disputes, including contractual issues, property, debt recovery, insurance claims, trusts and estates, and banking matters. He regularly appears in the District Court and High Court and has advised clients through regulatory investigations and arbitral proceedings.

Sam's career has included roles with leading law firms in New Zealand and London, as well as in-house legal positions within the banking and insurance sectors, giving him a well-rounded understanding of the commercial issues facing clients.

Partner Dan Hughes says Sam's appointment reflects the firm's continued commitment to providing clients with experienced, commercially focused litigation support across Canterbury.

"Sam is an accomplished commercial litigator with excellent judgement and a pragmatic approach to resolving disputes. His experience across private practice and in-house legal roles means he understands both the legal and commercial considerations our clients are balancing every day.

"He is a great fit for our team and will further strengthen the support we provide to clients across Canterbury and beyond," Hughes adds.

Sam says he is excited to join Anthony Harper and work alongside its highly regarded litigation team.

"Anthony Harper’s collaborative culture and reputation for delivering practical, commercially focused advice really stood out to me. I look forward to helping clients navigate complex disputes and achieve positive outcomes."
